Holy WOW!!
After I read Becoming Lady Thomas, I was hooked! I had to know what happened to Edith and Alexander. Their story was just what I'd hoped it would be! Even if they started out as just an agreement, it didn't take long to see more in each other's eyes. Maybe it was something they saw all along, but didn't want to believe it.

When reading the first book, I thought Edith was very spoiled and didn't seem to truly care about her sister's feelings. This book showed that Edith is much more fragile than she led on. She was actually broken, but was strong enough to push through it all. I found myself loving her!

"A woman like myself really could fall for a man like him. She wouldn't even have to try that hard."

Alexander. Whoa, buddy! That man is mysterious, sexy, sweet, and he loves his mama! That's a plus! Ha!
Did I mention sexy? Because Lawd!!
The best thing I liked about him was that he also was fighting an internal battle -- a battle of acceptance from his family. He was now ready to prove his worth and Edith was his perfect partner.

"It will have to be us against them."

The more time Edith and Alexander spent together, the more they realized the attraction couldn't be denied. Trust me. The heat was melting off the pages. I found myself fanning my face quite a few times! I swear, I think that words sound even more sexy when the story is set back in time!
K. Webster knows how to write a historical romance!!

I'm telling you!!! This book was just great! I loved getting to know Edith and Alexander more, meeting his family, and getting to see Elizabeth and Jasper again. These characters have settled in my brain and I NEED MORE!!

I will sit by and *patiently* wait for the next book. I'm counting down the days! Keep these historical romances coming Mrs. Webster! You truly have a gift for them:)

I dragged my feet on starting to read this one because I'm not a fan of Edith. She came off as selfish, money hungry, calculating and willing to throw her sisters under the bus - not very admirable qualities in the oldest sister. Willing agreeable to an arranged marriage for show with Alexander Dumont, Edith isn't deluding herself into thinking that this marriage is authentic with everlasting love, but at least she will be rich and able to do as she pleases as long as she plays the part. Alexander and Edith have definite chemistry but otherwise they ignore each other. I did become more empathetic towards Edith as it became obvious that she craved to be wanted, needed and loved just like anybody else. She actually is remorseful about her past behavior and truly does care about her sisters. Alexander is nothing like Jasper, he isn't trying to sweep Edith off her feet with charm and finesse, he's got his own agenda to fulfill even if he can't stop thinking about her. Can their relationship be more than a contract? For 2 people who weren't planning on finding love, could they actually be perfect for each other off paper as well? This story isn't sweet and swoony like the first one, more like tempestuous and spitfire but still does the characters justice.
I am not going to lie, when I finished Becoming Lady Thomas I had absolutely no love for Edith and I thought Alexander was nothing more than a pompous and arrogant player, albeit an extremely sexy, pompous and arrogant player. I went into this story with my mind made up on how I thought it should go, but because Ms. Webster is so very good at what she does, she changed my mind before I even knew it was happening. FYI, I liked her story way better than the one I had formed in my head ☺.

Edith and Alexander are just two really misunderstood individuals, with serious trust issues, but somehow they come together and form an unbreakable bond and you will find yourself routing for them. I know I was and I hated her at the beginning of the story. They actually become kinda cute together and when they get together between the sheets make sure you have a fan handy!

“You’re absolutely stunning tonight, Edith. I haven’t been able to take my eyes from you most of the night. My hands are eager to caress your sensitive flesh that’s hidden under your dress. I’m practically watering at the mouth at the very idea of sampling what I had the opportunity of pleasuring earlier this afternoon. Dear wife, please let me make good on my promise behind closed doors later.”

This was another great read for me and I can’t wait until the youngest Merriweather sister gets her story!!!
